Information We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information such as your name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile image if Google provides it. We use this information to create and secure your Khembara account.

We also store information you choose to provide in Khembara, including profile details, campsite reviews, trip plans, trip participants, checklist items, uploaded campsite photos, astrophotography submissions, and app preferences.

If you use nearby campsite search, your browser may ask for location permission. We use that location only to calculate distance to campsites. You can deny location access and search manually instead.

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

• Sign you in and manage your account.
• Show your saved trips, shared trip plans, checklist items, and assigned items.
• Display campsite reviews and approved photo submissions.
• Help admins review submitted campsite photos before they appear publicly.
• Improve safety, reliability, abuse prevention, and core app functionality.

Google User Data

Khembara only requests Google account data needed for sign-in. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI models.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sharing and Public Content

Some content may be public, including your displayed name, public campsite reviews, and photos approved by an admin. Trip plans are visible to you and users you share the trip with. We may share data with service providers that help us run the app, such as hosting, authentication, storage, database, maps, and analytics providers.

Retention and Deletion

We keep account and app data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account or personal data by contacting us. Some records may be retained where required for security, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.

Security

We use access controls, row-level security, and managed infrastructure to protect user data. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a secure Google account and only share trips with people you trust.
